The Dominican Republic Mission Team needed to redesign its existing website to better engage viewers and communicate its current efforts. The DRMT originally started in the 1990s as a ministry of the First Baptist Church of Wallingford, CT. Since then, hundreds of individuals across the nation have traveled to the Dominican Republic to serve alongside local organizations in the city of La Romana, including the Maranatha Mission, Iglesia Bautista Maranatha, and the El Buen Samaritano Hospital.

The work of the team includes bringing hope to the residents of the bateyes and barrios, a majority of whom are sugarcane workers who migrated from Haiti. This is done through a variety of efforts, such as food distribution, construction projects, and medical clinics.

As part of this project, I had the honor of being a part of the mission team during their annual winter trip to La Romana in January of 2024. Seeing the work of the mission firsthand inspired me to design a website that aims to convey and communicate the heart of the organization.

The challenge? A missions organization, such as the DRMT, cannot be limited solely to a webpage. The trip is something that must be experienced. Taking in mind that the current website ranks highly in search engine results pages, an aim of the website is to drive registration for both the annual Summer and Winter trips.
